Local bank + Local College = An amazing cup of coffee with a purpose! It’s a unique equation that may not make much sense at first, but once you learn more it really is the perfect story!
Shepherds Community Café is a partnership between Community State Bank and Shepherds College. The local collaboration is a café that serves a delicious cup of coffee while also providing training, work experience and jobs for students with intellectual disabilities.
In 2017 Community State Bank President, CEO & coffee enthusiast Scott Huedepohl dreamt up an idea of having a café located within Community State Bank’s Main Office. It would be a place for not only bank employees to enjoy, but also for the community to utilize for networking, collaborating and of course coffee. As the idea continued to brew in Scott’s mind, he began to envision a much wider purpose for the café. That’s when he introduced the concept to Shepherds College Executive Director, Tracy Terrill. Shepherds College, located directly down the street from Community State Bank, is a post-secondary education program for individuals with intellectual disabilities. The idea of tying a local bank and a local college together to create an inclusive coffee shop sounded like something the communities of Southeastern Wisconsin would love. That’s when the idea of Shepherds Community Café was born. Shepherds Community Café plans to open its doors Spring 2018 inside of Community State Bank’s Main Office in Union Grove, Wisconsin.

As a community bank, this is what we're about every day. We build the communities we serve... I knew this was something that our bank, Shepherds College and our communities could really get behind and support." - Scott Huedepohl, CEO Community State Bank
